The district meeting was yesterday and all the Supt. would say is they plan to have someone in place by May....hopefully sooner. Yikes!

Gainesville decision delayed

The Gainesville Independent School District didn't make an agenda item or present an athletic director/football coach at its regularly scheduled board meeting Monday night.

According to GISD Board President Lisa Bellows, Superintendent Bill Gravitt had gone through the interview process and has come up with a short list of candidates.

"The position is still officially open," Bellows said.

Whoever gets the job, he will replace former AD and Head Football Coach Matt Young.

Young recently resigned to take a position on Greg Owens' staff at Sulphur Springs.

Gravitt had said he really hopes to have his final selection made by Monday's board meeting.

"I really would like to have it done by then and be able to present it to the board at that time," he said.

Gravitt said he started out with 78 applications and has whittled the short list down to six.

"I really can't release that list," he said when asked. "I am trying to protect those who have applied."

Ricky Lock. I just called the GISD Supt office and the lady that answered the phone said that it was announced this morning at 8:30 at a special board meeting. Here is a link to the article in the Gainesville Daily Register.

what's up with that? i had heard searcy was a shoo-in for that one...very interesting.

Of course we don't know who applied but I did talk to a coach who knows Coach Searcy and he told me that Coach S wasn't too excited about the prospect of going back. He may have applied but I don't know. That was just 1 story from 1 guy....but I do trust him.
