| Situation arising at NISD that would not allow you to discipline any athlete or student. No running, pushups, situps, squat jumps, etc. as a consequence of them screwing up in the classroom, missing practice, late for practice, or just not working out hard enough.
Meeting called for Tuesday to finalize the policy. Beware of seeking a coaching position here unless you care less what the kids do.

| not sure of what ever cam from the boswell situation, but if this is true of NW, it's not going to be a good place to work...so what are they basing this new policy on? | |

| Upper administration has no intestinal fortitude to stand up to parents. One parent complains and things start changing. Pretty soon I'm going to request to teach from another room via a pod cast so I don't have to deal with the BS that goes on in the classroom because we can't do anything to them.
They already act like idiots and for us to be able to send them to a principal, they must have 9 write ups in a classroom. We must have contacted the parent twice and set up a team meeting with all his/her teachers.

| The HS is currently having problems with food fights during lunches. All teachers with a conference during lunch are being requested to be at lunch to watch over the students. | |

| Our current Supt. and Asst. Supts. are pro Fine Arts and not Pro Athletic. Our only saving grace in upper administration left last year for Southlake. He was an old coach that saw the writing on the wall. | |

| not good...i'd have to bail...when they start talking about other ways to discipline kids other than physical ways, such as what you mentioned above or busting their butts, you don't want to be a part of it... | |

| Man, looks like things are worse there now then they were a few years ago.
Glad I no longer coach there. It would be tough keeping discipline if you can't do anything to them.

| The new discipline is building a relationship with each student so you end up not having problems in the classroom because you have a realtionship with them. Biggest buch of crock I've ever heard. I wanted to puke in our faculty meeting this morning. | |

| We just about had the cornered turned when they came and did this to us. We were starting to see the outcome of what began at the beginning of the year holding kids accountable for their actions.
We started a Character Development program to instill a positive attitude in the school and try to be proactive. All down the drain.

| When I was in school, it was a paddle...got it a couple of times and deserved it. I had one graduate last May and 1 in 8th grade now and both of my kids have needed the occasional up-down or extra running...not many who don't. We are 3A and I would love to get them on our schedule in a couple of years...there will be no discipline! Coaches Beware! | |

| Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express -- verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other manner -- the actual functioning of thought. Dictated by the thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthetic or moral concern. | |

| The verdict is in from the meeting with the coaches. No physical punishment (discipline) for any reason in athletics or any other classroom. If the discipline involves any form of a physical activity (standing in a corner) it is not allowed.
Beware of any coaching openings at Northwest. You will not be able to discipline your athletes for any reason. You can't even say it is conditioning. Will not stand up and the district will not support you.

| A person who is trained to consider his actions, to undertake them deliberately, is in so far forth disciplined. Add to this ability a power to endure in an intelligently chosen course in the face of distraction, confusion, and difficulty, and you have the essence of discipline. | |
